Ideology permeates all knowledge. Different groups compete continually to have their meanings become the generally accepted or normative meanings in society. This happens in the professions too. This PDF contrasts two experiences of two versions of the meaning of Design Education - one in Managua, Nicaragua during the Sandinista Revolution, the other in Cuba, where a group of American students contrasted their meanings with those of their Cuban counterpart. The material is taken from my PhD Dissertation: The Social Construction of an Architectural Reality in Design Education.
