Q. What experience do you have in Space Programming?

A. During a long career as a space programmer and brief writer I have worked in a wide number of areas:

Each of these had its own unique set of requirements for privacy, inter-departmental communication, multiple usages,functionality etc. This experience has allowed me to develop insights into how spaces work to limit behaviour and performance. If you would like to know more, contact me .

The Importance of Experience

All of these guidelines and standards differ, and some - particularly those in the Uniited States tend to be generous. But there is a fine balance to be found between economy and pedagogical needs, and this is not always easy to determine. In addition, new and interesting ways of combining and sharing space usages are sometimes involved, and this, combined with both the increasing interest in Critical Education pedagogies as well as the recent introduction of mixed-media learning has further complicated the process of space assessment and programming. All of this leads to the conclusion that matching space allocations to programme requirements is a demanding and complex activity requiring special attention to every programme.

With more than forty years experience in space programming, starting with my Final Year Thesis and continuing in Governmental, Institutional and commercial environments I have the unique skill and the experience to help educational insitutions to improve the use and efficiency of their space, and to develop spatial models for new and emerging programmes. This is able to be done at either the Institutional (College) level or at the level of individual Departments. What is unique about what I can offer is not just the individual skills involved, but the combination of skills in Programme Development and Progeamme Space Planning, coupled with a Critical Pedagogy perspective that addresses the needs and expectations of under-represented minorities - minorities who, if enroled, could make a significant difference to the sustainability of both programmes and institutions..
