Q. What sort of things can you do to help? A. The first thing I can do is to work with staff to find out what they are trying to achieve. This can be done in a workshop setting, where brainstorming, role-play, vision-building exercises can cut down on the time and expense involved. The next step is to gain some overview understanding of the field in question by interviewing staff separately on what they would like to see happen, to find out what they think needs to be done and why. It's important at this point to make sure that there is a viable community of potential students for the intended programme. This means some market research, an analysis of competing programmes, and an estimation of potential student numbers to verify viability. Assuming all of this checks out, then is it important to transform the more general vision into specific programme proposals, in consultation with staff, and to put together a programme document for submission to NZQA. I can do the writing, or I can assist staff in the process. Working with staff, I am also able to manage the NZQA Accreditation process, organising Advisory Panels, documenting meetings, approaching potential accreditation panel members etc. In the end, it is up to the staff who will be deliveriing the programme to present it to NZQA and to manage the Accreditation meeting, but I can also help them to organise these processes. |
